The Daily Blog - Miguel ("A Giant Day At Proctor School")

The first thing we did this morning at 8:10am was our warm-ups. Like usual, it was handwriting, proofreading and geography. Then we reviewed our history homework that was about how Englishmen explored and changed the way people thought about the value of goods and the need for trade routes by discovering the New World. After history, the second computer group (which I’m in) went to the library. After 20 minutes we returned to class and we did math till 9:45.

At 9:45 the people who played band instruments went to band. While they were there, we read the book called I,Q. I,Q is about two singers’children who get caught up in an agency’s mystery. Unfortunately the bell rang for recess and we had to stop the reading. At 11:00am, we returned to class. Then we went on to our chapter 5 math test.

After the test, we started fractions and we learned about them through a really fun assignment about making a pizza with a set of fraction cards Mr. McMurray gave to each of us that we combined to create a whole pizza. For example, ( ½+1/4+1/6+1/12). Once we finished the game we got our homework and thankfully the bell rang and it was time for lunch.

When we got back at 1pm, the room was dark and Mr. McMurray said we were going to watch the Giants playoff game versus the Philadelphia Phillies. Mr. McMurray gave each group an assignment to complete during the game that was related to math that we are going to use for upcoming activities. In my opinion, our group got the easiest job keeping track of all foul balls. At the end of the fourth inning, school was over so we all got our backpacks and headed home.

All in all it was a good day of school.
