The Daily Blog (Mar 1) - Julia

8:10. We walked into the classroom, took our seats, and shared our weekends. Then Mr.McMurray told us what we were going to do for the day. At 9:00 Mr.McMurray showed us a power point on animal cells. We took notes and he said we would use those later today.

The kids in band left the class at 9:10 and the room got a lot quieter. At around 9:20 Mr.McMurray told us about an essay contest. Snore. But it’s actually really fun. The essay is about breaking barriers like Jackie Robinson did with the color barrier. If you enter the contest you get two free tickets to an A’s game. And most of the kids are almost done with that.

10:00 the kids from band returned to class and we started on some math. We did some vocabulary and a worksheet. And finally what we’ve all been waiting for: RECESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 20% of kids were on the play structure, 30% on the blacktop, and the rest were watching the three-on-three hoops tournament.

The Blackbirds (Rada, Angelica, and me!) played the Spiders (Caitlin, Sydney, and Alyssa). The Blackbirds won by a lay-up. When we got back from recess Mr.McMurray read Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. That’s a book we are reading in class. Then sadly, more math, more worksheets, but we got to work with partners. Yes!

12:30, lunch. After lunch we went to PE. We did our shuttle run, and practiced running for the mile this Saturday. Soon enough that was over, too. We headed back to class. Then we used the notes from earlier to make cell flipbooks. Surprisingly we did that till the end of the day. Mr.McMurray gave us our homework and we eagerly left.
