The Daily Blog (Feb 24) - Elliott

This morning before we walked into the classroom we had our assembly. The first thing that we did in our assemblie was to say the Pledge of Allegiance. After we were done with that, the librarian, Ms. Bremmer, told the whole school that the second grade had the most reviews of books in the library. After the announcement from Mrs. Bremer, the second graders performed their special Chinese New Year's Day parade with their paper dragons and lanterns.

Mr. McMurray then announced to the 5th grade students that Deputy Costeiu would not be at school today. Once we were finished with our assembly we then walked back to our 5th grade classroom.

When we arrived back to the classroom the Student Council told us about the Black History Month poster which featured Jackie Robinson this week and where to find it. After that, Proctor Pride Points and Box Tops winners were announced.

We then corrected our math packet. Mr. McMurray then challenged us to a page in our math packet. Today in math we practiced working with decimals, percents, and fractions into simplest form. Mr. McMurray taught us how to change a decimal to a percent. For example, if you have 0.72 you have to move the decimal two places to the right and change it to a percent, such as 70%. And you move the percent sign two places to the left and it to a decimal, so 72% would become 0.72.

Next our class walked to the Cafeteria to listen to the fifth grade biography report speeches about famous people. The kids that were chosen to present are from all of the 5th grade classes. Iit was really cool to see famous people from the past talk to you about themselves.

Once we finished listening to the biography report speeches we went to recess. After recess was finished it was 11:15 and the day was almost over.

The class then wrote down the assignments for homework. For math: PW101 and LS 102 Mariah Keeps Cool packet for spelling.

The bell rang and school was over for Wednesday, February 24th. It was a short day full of fun events at Proctor School.
