The Daily Blog (Feb 8) - Julia

When we walked in the classroom this morning, we saw a different teacher standing at the door. We were having a guest teacher and her name was Ms. Lawrence. She greeted us and then she took attendance. Everyone was here!

We started our Monday with the morning meeting where some of us shared what we did this weekend. Then, we started on our Chapter 12 Math Review because we have a math test tomorrow. We did math review until recess.

After coming back from a fun and active recess, Ms. Lawrence showed us a Black History documentary called “Freedom’s Song.” She asked us our thoughts and any questions we had about the film.

Then, she told us about a writing prompt we were going to do. It was a persuasive essay on cell phone use at school: should it be allowed or not? The class worked on it until lunchtime.

At lunch, one of the first things that I noticed when I walked into the cafeteria was that they were serving strawberry milk, something they only do that near Valentine’s Day.

After lunch, we went to PE. We had a sub for PE too because Ms. Payne was on Jury Duty. Our sub was Coach Meyers, or “Coach ‘M’.” We did a warm up lap, and group 2 led exercises. But instead of our usual push-ups, we ran ½ a mile to get ready for the full mile on Friday. Then, we split up into groups of beginner, intermediate and advance to play knock out and then played horse.

After PE, the students that were done with their writing assessments worked on the biography reports and the others finished the writing assessments. We had silent reading until the end of the day. Three students from our class went home sick today.

Five minutes before the bell rang, Ms. Lawrence gave us our homework and the school day ended.
