The Daily Blog (Jan 25) - Claire

Hello, my name is Claire and I am the blogger today.

Today we came in early because it was raining. While it was raining,we watched The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the movie we had started. Then the bell rang.

We started our day by sharing our weekends. More than four kids shared. Then, Mr. McMurray told us that tomorrow the two principals of the local public middle schools (Canyon and Creekside) would be coming with students to talk to us about the two middle schools. We then had a little talk about applying to middle schools.

Afterward, we watched a slide show about science, specifically about what physical and chemical changes are. The first slide was a rusty ship. The second was of three potatoes, and three hash browns being cooked. Then there was a slide comparing iron and rust, and then a question about chemical changes. The last slide was of a burning candle. In this slide show, we learned that chemical changes change the material as the atoms rearrange to form new substances, while physical changes don't.

After that, I was lucky (sort of). I got go to band, but I forgot my instrument, and today was testing. So I have to test next week. We (who took band) went back to class, and had a math review on decimals before recess. We watched a video indoors about fresh water life.

After recess, we reviewed the answers of the math we had done before recess. Then we read about Paul Revere's midnight ride. Once we finished, we went to lunch.

I had a cream cheese sandwich, an apple, pudding, and a red berry CapriSun (juice). After that, we had PE. We square-danced, did two minutes of movement, and played Straddlehog.

When we got back to our class, we did Social Studies. We went over a report we will have to do on the Indian Removal Act. We also did some research on the tribes.

Then, as it always happens, Mr. McMurray assigned us homework, which consisted of language arts, and math. Then we were dismissed.
