The Daily Blog (Oct 21) - David

Hi! I am David your Roving Reporter. We kicked off our day with the assembly. First, Ms. Garcia asked us nicely to be real quiet. Then she announced that Student Council would give the latest news. After that, the PTA president came up and told us that on October 30, 2009, there would be a Fall Carnival. Following her, Mrs. Zoffada came up and announced the winners who walked the most laps in the Walk-a-thon. Ms. Garcia finished the assembly by declaring the Proctor Pride point winners.

Upon returning to class we corrected the previous day's homework on the causes of severe weather. We had to classify information for a tornado, hurricane, or monsoon.

Next we had a fairly short math test on exponents, prime numbers, and factoring. Once we finished, we had a pre-test on Chapter Six, Fraction Concepts.

Afterwards we all participated in a free write activity. This day's topic was, “What are three things that are important to you that you cannot buy with money?”

After recess Mr. McMurray picked us up and we went back to class where we continued working on our free write. After finishing this, some volunteers read out loud their ideas. This was an interesting time for me, because I get a lot of ideas from hearing the others.

Our final work of the day was to continue our research on the Explorer Reports.

Since this was a minimum day, we get out of school at noon. We had to hurry and copy the homework assignments into our Binder Reminders.

Our minimum day was packed full with assignments and fun.

JULIA

  • One thing that I think is important to me is my family. Money can't by that. Your family will always love you no matter what you do. They stick with you even during the worst of times. Like, if you get an F on a test, they will be determined to help you study. Your family always comes first.

WILL

  • There are a lot of things you can buy with money that are important. But what is important to me that has no price would be world peace. It would stop a lot of fighting and sadness.

RADA

  • Money can't buy nature. I think that we should help save the animals and nature around us.

SARAH

  • One improvement would be to make the world an even better place is to get rid of the bad guys or turn them into better people.

ONDRAY

  • You can't buy sharing because it's caring. You can't buy sharing because it comes from the soul. Sharing makes the world beautiful.

CLAIRE

  • Love is the center of all emotions. Love leads to happiness, sadness, jealousy, courage, anger, ignorance, hypocrisy, and many more.

MASON

  • If I don't have love I'm nothing.
