The Daily Blog (Jan 19) - Christian

When I got to school today it was pouring down rain so we had indoor recess. Before the bell rang, we started watching Finding Nemo. After that, we started with the Math Problem of the Day, practicing with decimals.

We then switched to science and learned about separating mixtures. Mr. McMurray wrote a few definitions on the board that we had to put in our notebooks. One of the notes was about three things you can use to separate mixtures: (a) a filter to separate particles from a liquid; (b) a magnet to separate metals from nonmetals; and (c) a spoon, to separate food items.

Later, we went to the Science Lab for our lesson in compounds/mixtures and separating mixtures. After Science, we had recess but since it was still raining pretty hard, so we went back indoors and watched some more of the movie (Nemo).

After recess, Mr. McMurray introduced our new read aloud book by Mildred Taylor, Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry , and he read the first chapter to us about Cassie and her brothers walking to school.

After that, we went to lunch. The rain let up a little and we got to play basketball on the playground for recess.

Back in the classroom, we got to play a new game called 'Deci-Jack'. It's like blackjack but using decimals. It was a lot of fun!

Before we left school we had a Social Studies lesson about cooperation between the American Indians and European colonists.

Finally, school ended and we got to go home!
