We started off the day with our weekly
assembly. Since it was absolutely freezing in Castro Valley, the
assembly was indoors. It ended with our officers calling the Proctor Pride Points.
Afterwards, we corrected our math homework, which was on identifying
the details. Right after, Mr. McMurray collected all of the homework and we rushed
off to the school-wide spelling bee!
Two students in our class, Katelyn and
Ruth, were participating in it. Ruth got out around the second or third round,
and Katelyn was in second place to be the 5th grade champion!!!
The
winners of our school spelling bee were Noah and Lindsey. There was also a 3rd
grader who was VERY close to being the Proctor champion.
When the bee was over
all the kids hurried to the playground to have recess. When we came back we
started to read The School Story, by Andrew Clements. It’s about a girl
who writes her first novel and shows it to a publishing company; one that her
mother happens to work at. To not have any special treatment about her book
from her mother, she uses a pen name: Cassandra Day. She refuses to see anyone
in person so her mother won’t suspect it’s her.
With the time we had left in
our day we stopped reading on about pages 4-5 and started watching a social
studies video. Prior to watching that we opened our social studies books and
looked at the pages we would be reading for homework.
Then we quickly popped in
a science video and learned about water’s states of matter. With having 10
minutes left of school Mr. McMurray assigned room 16 their homework and read
aloud the assignment alerts.
The bell rang at 12:00 and kids dashed for the
door to get to their after-school activities!
I’m Anna, and I’ve got the sass
from the class!!!!
Room
16 hopes that you are having a good time in Vietnam, Mira!!!!!!
