Roving Reporter: Kailey

Hello! My name is Kailey and I'm today, October 13th's Roving Reporter.

To start out the day, we did our daily warm-ups. We had to do Wednesday's warm-ups, too, just because we had a really busy day. First, we corrected our Grammar Minutes. The grammar was all about choosing the correct verb for each sentence, and writing the correct form of the verb for each word/phrase. For the daily math practice, we reviewed division and multiplication facts.

P.E. suddenly came and so the class didn't get to correct the daily language arts. When we got outside we started out with a warm-up lap. After, we did our stretches and headed upstairs to run the mile. We paired up, then began. When everyone finished the mile, we began dribbling a soccer ball. These upcoming PE's we will be tested on our soccer skills.

When Mr. McMurray picked us up, we began working on our science packets. While we were working on our packets, some kids had to finish their division tests that we had taken on Wednesday. After, we paired up and began reading fluency testing.

One person (called the 'A') would be the judge to the person reading. They would cross out the word that the reader missed or mispronounced. The other person (the 'B') would read two stories first. Then, when the two stories were done, everyone switched so that the A's would read, and the B's would be the judge.

After recess we corrected our math homework on prime and composite numbers. Soon after, we all each got one paper with the title, "Sieve of Erastothenes." You had to follow four steps on page 121 in your big, hard math textbook. After, we learned about exponents and powers.

Next, we corrected our language arts (problem solving) homework about conjunctions, compound subjects and compound predicates.

After lunch/recess, a lot of kids went to band/strings and all the others came into class and either read or doodled.

When strings came in, Read Naturally students left and Mr. McMurray announced the math test scores. Everyone then read for a little while. Then, band came in and sat down. Then, a student presented the class project (which was a cake display in the shape of a kiva), and everyone got a slice. It was super good!

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I'm Kailey. Good night, America!
